Stock Market Opening Bell: The Sensex slipped 114 points or 0.14 per cent to 84,352.22 in early trade, tracking weak global sentiment. The index had opened slightly higher at 84,525.89 but soon turned negative. Meanwhile, the Nifty opened marginally higher at 25,906.10, up 30 points or 0.12 per cent from the previous close of 25,875.80.

Stock Market Opening Bell: Stock markets in India opened on a mixed note on Thursday, with benchmark indices moving around the flatline as global sentiment remained subdued.

At the opening bell, the BSE Sensex slipped 114 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 84,352.22 after briefly rising to 84,525.89. The index soon turned negative.

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty50 opened marginally higher at 25,906.10, up 30 points or 0.12 per cent from the previous close of 25,875.80.

In the broader markets, however, sentiment was slightly better. The Nifty MidCap index edged up 0.02 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index gained 0.2 per cent in early trade.

Top gainers and losers

On the Sensex, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Ultratech Cement, and Sun Pharma were the leading gainers, rising up to 4 per cent on the BSE.

On the other hand, Tata Motors CV, Eternal, Infosys, Tata Motors PV, HCL Tech, TCS, M&M, and Tech Mahindra were among the top laggards.

Broader and sectoral trends

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index added 0.14 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index gained 0.15 per cent in early trade.

Among sectors, the Nifty Metal and Realty indices climbed 0.9 per cent each, while Financial Services and Pharma indices edged up 0.2 per cent each.
