Stock Market Open or Close today on December 25: Domestic equity markets are closed today, Thursday, December 25, on account of the Christmas holiday.
Trading on both the bourses — the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) — remains suspended across all segments. This is the final trading holiday for Indian stock markets in 2025. Normal trading activity will resume on Friday.
Commodity markets are also closed today. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) and the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) are shut for both the morning and evening sessions.
Several major global markets are also observing Christmas-related holidays. US markets will close early today and reopen on December 26. Markets in Germany will remain closed for the full day on December 24 and 25. Meanwhile, markets in the UK, France and Australia will operate with an early close on December 24.
Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange has released the equity market trading holiday calendar for 2026. The schedule offers early visibility to investors and traders on non-trading days.
As per the NSE notification, there will be 15 full trading holidays in 2026, one more than in 2025, excluding holidays that fall on weekends.
