Share Market Opening Bell! Sensex, Nifty open on a positive note; Wipro, HDFC top index gainers at open
The Indian market began Tuesday's session with minor gains, with the Nifty nearing a record high, while Sensex above 53000-mark. The benchmarks BSE Sensex gained 177 points or 0.33 per cent to 53,128, while Nifty grew 66 points or 0.42 per cent to 15,951.5 levels today.

In the broader markets category, the mid-cap index followed the suite of benchmarks and gained over 71 points or a quarter per cent to 28321 at the market open on Tuesday. While Nifty Bank opened with minor losses by around 50 points 0.1 per cent lower to 34661 levels today at the market open.

Of 50 scrips on Nifty50, 35 advanced, 15 declined at the market open today. On the back of strong first-quarter numbers, HDFC along with Wipro became the top index gainer at the market open today by surging around 2 per cent, followed by Asian Paints up 1. per cent and Britannia up 1.3 per cent.
On the other hand, Grasim slipped most becoming the top loser at the market open today by 2.7 per cent, followed by JSW Steel, Bajaj Auto and ONGC each declining by around 0.7 per cent.
Almost all sectoral indices were trading in the green in the early morning trade, except for Nifty Media and Metal each declined by around a quarter per cent, while Nifty Auto, Realty and FMCG surged most minutes after the market open on Tuesday.
On the global front, US markets on Monday ended lower after hitting an all-time high as Dow Jones closed lower by 95 points after being up over 260 points in the intraday trade and Nasdaq also closed flat. Asian markets today opened muted with the Japanese 'Nikkei' trading lower by 200 points.
Another important trigger to the domestic markets, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on Monday sold shares worth Rs 1539.88 crore in cash and bought Rs 1505.82 crore in index futures.
The Nifty on Monday had a green day with the index closing near 15,900 as Titan, BPCL, and Shree Cement lead the gainers while metals and financials saw profit booking. Midcaps again stole the show with the index hitting fresh new all-time highs.
