68 entities' registrations cancelled by SEBI; is your investment adviser on the list? Check here

Market regulator SEBI has cancelled the registration certificates of 68 investment advisors for failing to pay renewal fees within the stipulated time. Capital market laws require every registered investment adviser to pay renewal fee every five years from the date of grant of registration from SEBI to keep the registration active.

“An Investment Adviser who has been granted a certificate of registration, in order to keep its registration in force, shall pay fee every five years, from the date of grant of certificate of registration, within three months before expiry of the period for which fee has been paid," according to SEBI.

Failure to do this leads to cancellation of the registration.

The regulator sent show cause notices to all of the 68 entities, asking them to explain why they were unable to meet the financial obligation on time.
