Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday chaired the fourth round of pre-Budget consultations with key stakeholders from the capital markets. The meeting is part of the government’s wider exercise to gather sector-wise inputs for the Union Budget 2026–27. 
According to the Ministry of Finance, the discussions centred on expectations, policy priorities and concerns of market participants.
The ministry said in a post on X that “Union Minister for Finance &amp; Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman chairs the fourth Pre-Budget Consultation with the stakeholders from the capital markets in connection with the forthcoming Union Budget 2026-27.” 
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs and the Chief Economic Adviser were also present during the meeting.

The government began its week-long consultation schedule on November 18 with capital market representatives, followed by startups and the manufacturing sector.
On November 19, the focus will shift to banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) companies, along with the information technology (IT) industry. Representatives from the hospitality and tourism sector will meet the Finance Minister on November 20, followed by labour unions.
Officials and industry leaders from infrastructure, energy and urban development are scheduled for consultations on November 21. The final round will take place on November 26 with internal officers and social sector representatives.
Last week, Sitharaman initiated the first phase of consultations by meeting leading economists, attended by Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran and senior officials from the Department of Economic Affairs. She later interacted with micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) representatives as part of the Budget-making exercise.
