
Stock Market Closing Bell: Stock markets stayed under selling pressure for the fourth straight session on Thursday, dragged by losses in realty, auto and private banking counters amid global and trade-related concerns.
The BSE Sensex settled 386 points, or 0.47 per cent, lower at 81,716, while the NSE Nifty50 closed at 25,057, down 113 points or 0.45 per cent.
On the Nifty index, Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics, Adani Enterprises, Wipro, Jio Financial Services, Bajaj Auto, IndusInd Bank, Hero MotoCorp, UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank and Tech Mahindra were among the top losers, shedding between 1 per cent and 2.6 per cent.
The broader market mirrored the weakness, with the Nifty MidCap index slipping 0.98 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index declining 0.67 per cent.
Sectorally, the Nifty Realty index was the worst performer, falling 2.5 per cent, followed by the Nifty Auto index (down 1.15 per cent) and the Nifty Private Bank index (down 0.8 per cent). In contrast, the Nifty FMCG index was the lone gainer, inching up 0.18 per cent.
