An infrastructure firm is set to trade ex-split this week as it announces its first-ever stock split, moving ahead with a 1:10 ratio where each existing share will be divided into 10 smaller shares, increasing the total number of shares held by investors while proportionally reducing the price per share, with no impact on overall investment value.

After the split, the total number of shares held by an investor increases 10 times, while the price of each share becomes one-tenth of the earlier price.

For example, if someone holds 1 share priced at Rs 100, after the split, they will hold 10 shares priced at Rs 10 each. The overall value of the investment remains the same. Companies usually do this to make their shares more affordable and improve trading activity in the market.
