Kerala is going to welcome its third Vande Bharat Express, which will bring a lot of comfort to the people traveling between Kochi and Bengaluru, which was a long and uncomfortable journey. The Southern Railway has set the timetable for the new semi-high-speed service, which is another step forward in improving Kerala's rail communication.
According to the published schedule, the Kochi–Bengaluru Vande Bharat will leave Ernakulam at 2.20 pm and arrive at Bengaluru City by 11 pm. On the way back, it will depart from Bengaluru at 5.10 am and get into Ernakulam at 1.50 pm. The official starting date is expected to be disclosed soon, with hints that the service would begin this very month.
There will be planned stops at Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, and Thrissur for the train, and one more stop would be at Krishnarajapuram on the return trip. The service, which will cover 608 kilometers in just nine hours, is going to be a quicker and more comfortable travel alternative than the existing trains.
The new service, made up of eight coaches and including one for the executive class, will mainly provide the convenience of the commute to regular passengers, workers, and travelers during the peak season. The addition will increase the number of Vande Bharat trains in Kerala to three, as the Thiruvananthapuram–Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru routes have already been successfully operated.
According to railway officials, the recent line on the map shows the increasing necessity for the interstate transport of the passengers to the south metropolitan cities like Bengaluru at a faster pace.
The new train used is a modern, aerodynamic model equipped with the best safety systems, automatic doors, reclining seats, and GPS-based passenger information displays.
Besides that, the new service is likely to bring in more tourists and business travelers coming to and going from Kerala to and from Karnataka, thus improving the connectivity between South India’s two most dynamic economic regions. A large number of Kerala students have been going to Bangalore for higher education for years now and their main complain has been the non-availability of fast transportation. The new service is set to open up a quick and trustworthy travel option, thus closing the gap caused by the previous fast transport boundaries.
