The Railways is planning to operate 18,262 summer special train trips during the peak summer travel period (15 April to 15 July 2026) to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic and reduce congestion. So far, 11,878 train trips have been notified, while the remaining services are also being gradually announced for passengers. Officials said this large-scale deployment reflects a calibrated approach supported by improved rake availability, optimised scheduling, and continuous monitoring.
Special focus has also been given to passengers travelling to their hometowns, with improved arrangements at stations to ensure smooth boarding |Image source: ANI|
