Good news for Delhi-NCR passengers: Passengers travelling across Delhi-NCR may soon get smoother and less crowded Metro journeys as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced 24 additional Metro trips every Monday starting May 18 to encourage greater use of public transport instead of private vehicles.
The move comes after Narendra Modi appealed to citizens to increase the use of public transport to help reduce fuel consumption and promote sustainable urban mobility.
DMRC said six additional trains will be introduced every Monday, while services could also be expanded further on other days depending on passenger demand and crowd levels.
According to DMRC, the additional Metro services will begin from May 18 and are aimed at handling rising passenger movement during peak office hours.
The corporation said passenger demand will be monitored closely and more services may be added in the coming days if required.

To encourage commuters to shift from private vehicles to public transport, DMRC said Park & Ride facilities are currently operational at 126 Metro stations across Delhi-NCR.
