Bank holidays in May 2025: Are banks open or closed on 1st May?

People planning to visit the bank in the coming week of May need to sort their bank-related work earlier, as banks will remain closed on Thursday, May 1. According to the Reserve Bank of India's holiday calendar 2025, banks are shut on May 1, 2025, on account of Maharashtra Din/May Day (Labour Day). Banks will remain closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana), Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, and Thiruvananthapuram.
