Samvat 2074: Sensex climbs 8%, Nifty surges 3.8%

Samvat 2074:  The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 did not see much upward swing on Tuesday, however, benchmark indices ended in Samvat 2074 quite higher. On a year-on-year basis, Sensex has gained 8 percent, while the broader NSE Nifty rose  or over 3.8 percent during Hindu Samvat year 2074.

1. Benchmark Sensex has gained eight percent, while the Nifty50 rose 3.8 percent during the Samvad year 2074, as the Hindu year ends on Tuesday.

2. Investors were cautious in the last session of Samvat year 2074 on Tuesday, ahead of a long Diwali break, and kept their positions restricted. TCS was the best performer Sensex constituent, rising 2.22 per cent, followed by Yes Bank gaining 1.95 percent.

3. Exchanges will conduct a special 'Muhurat trading' session on Wednesday between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm. The markets will remain closed on Thursday for "Diwali Belipratipada'.

4. In today's trade, the equity market  after opening on a positive note, failed to hold on to gains. Selling pressure in banking and finance sectors subdued investors` sentiments.

5. IT, TECK (technology, entertainment and media) and consumers durables stocks gained on the BSE, while the banking and finance counters fell. TCS), Tata Motors(DVR), Yes Bank, and Reliance Industries were the top performers on the bourses.

6. The S&P BSE Sensex rose 40.99 points up to close at 34,991.91 points after opening at opened at 35,076.24 points from the previous close of 34,950.92 points.
