How to cast your vote using EVM and VVPAT machines

A voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail or VVPAT machine is used during the polling process all over India to confirm that the vote cast by any voter goes to the correct candidate or symbol. This Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will be using the VVPATs as well as EVMs. The independent auto system linked with an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) allows the voters to check that their votes are cast according to them. When a vote is cast, a slip is printed out on the VVPAT printer that contains the information like serial number, name and symbol of the candidate or party. The slip remains exposed through a transparent window for seven seconds. It is after allegations of EVM tampering by various political parties, VVPATs have started being used in all elections across India from June 2017. Here is how to use these machines to cast your vote -
