Indian Railways has been upgrading safety features and passenger amenities in train coaches. Various new premium services like Humsafar, Tejas, Antyodaya, UDAY, Mahamana, Gatimaan and coaches like Deen Dayalu and Anubhuti, which have improved passenger amenities, have been introduced in service. Railways had also launched Project Swarna and Project Utkrisht to modernise rakes of Rajdhani and Shatabdi, and Passenger and Mail express trains respectively. Check out the awe-inspiring images:
1/6Now, the railways has given a swanky makeover to Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express under Project Utkrisht. This is first Utkrisht rake for Central Railway.
2/6The Utkrisht rake of Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express will be put into service from 4.11.2018 and will be first on Indian Railways to be executed in Open Line Depot.
3/6The cost of upgrading a rake under Project Utkrisht is Rs 60 lakh. The upgraded features include LED lights, colour makeover, displays for passenger information, better toilet amenities, anti-graffiti vinyl wrapping in interiors and anti-graffiti exterior painting.
4/6Under Project Utkrisht, the railways not only aims to upgrade the passenger amenities but also want to make passengers feel good during their journey. Aesthetically chosen colour and designs are the result of this initiative.
5/6The other features include auto dispenser air freshener, better seats, renovated furnishings, anti-skid flooring, stainless steel panelling, dustbins, washbasin, large mirrors, hybrid design bio-toilets, and health faucet.
6/6Recently, the railways has also upgraded Howrah-Kalka Mail rake under Project ‘Utkrisht’. It has also said that 140 trains will be upgraded by March 2019. Not only this, two rakes of Shan-e-Bhopal Express (Train No.12155/12156) have been upgraded at the division level.
