CoWin Registration for 18+ begins TODAY, vaccination drive from May 1 - check steps to register and EVERYTHING you need to know

CoWin Registration for 18+ begins today: The Covid-19 pandemic situation is becoming worse and worse in India with hundreds of deaths being reported every day and thousands getting infected. However, amidst all the negativities the only ray of hope is the fact that the COVID-19 vaccination drive has begun strongly in the country. In fact, from today, the registration process for the third phase of vaccination for all those who are above 18 years of age will begin. People will be able to register on the CoWin platform from today, April 28, 2021.

Last week, the central government announced that the third phase of vaccination for adults above 18 years of age will begin from May 1, 2021. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted from his official twitter handle yesterday, "Calling all citizens aged 18+ to gear up to get vaccinated against #COVID19 May 1 onwards. Registrations open up tomorrow, Apr 28 Log on to cowin.gov.in & follow the steps to schedule your appointment.. @PMOIndia @MoHFW_INDIA #Unite2FightCorona #LargestVaccineDrive."
All the citizens who are above 18 years of age must follow some simple steps in order to register themselves for the vaccination drive on the CoWin portal. These steps are as follows:

Vaccination appointment

Vaccination appointment

Next the person has to enter the details as mentioned in a government approved photo ID card such as aadhaar card/ driving license or others. Then one then needs to schedule the vaccination appointment at the centre of one's choice. Source: PTI

One then needs to check the confirmation details sent on the registered mobile number. Also, one must note the fact that on the day of the vaccination appointment, one must reach the vaccination centre on time with the appointment slip and photo ID card which was used at the time of registration. The COVID-19 vaccination drive started in the country on January 16, 2021, with two vaccines - Covishield (Oxford-AstraZeneca's vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India) and Covaxin (manufactured by Bharat Biotech Limited). The second phase of vaccination in India started from March 1, 2021, where people above 60 years of age and those over 45 years of age with comorbities were included.
