Bullet trains vs regular Indian Railways trains: MoS says don't mislead people

When Union Minister Manoj Sinha was questioned about safety of bullet trains in terms of accident prevention measures, he said it is incorrect to compare operational safety of regular Indian Railways trains with bullet trains.

Manoj Sinha asked the media to desist from "misleading" the common people on the issue of bullet trains.

The bullet train is one thing and the operation of normal Indian Railways  trains is another thing, the minister said.

Indicating that the Centre considers bullet train infrastructure project as critical, Sinha added that India needs high-speed trains and the country will not lag behind on this front.

A high-speed bullet train project, worth around Rs 1,10,000 crore, is proposed on a 580-km stretch between Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Mumbai.
