7th Pay Commission: The issue of central government employees salary hike under the 7th CPC report recommendations has been hanging fire for quite a long time.  The demand for salary revision has been raised from various disappointed quarters. After finding that they could get no response from authorities, many government employees have turned to protests to pressurise authorities and thereby bend them to their will. Check out what grabbed the 7th pay commission spotlight recently: 


1. Demanding pay parity under 7th pay commission recommendations, nursing staff in a government medical college and its associated hospitals in Jammu observed an hour-long strike on Saturday. 


2. In a latest turn of events, Gramin Dak Sevaks have raised demands for the implementation of 7th pay commission. They are demanding that the government put them on par with other postal department employees. Gramin Dak Sevaks indefenite strike entered the 13th day on Saturday.


3.  An indefinite cease-work protest was launched from Monday by t he state government employees in Manipur's secretariat. They are demanding the implementation of the 7th pay commission recommendations in their case too.


4. Last month, Indian Railway employees' union too had called for a 72-hour relay hunger strike across the country against non-implementation of the seventh pay commission recommendations.


5. No 7th Pay commission based salary hike has been ordered for this segment of the bureaucracy, but Centre wants to boost the morale of its star performers.  To do this, it  asked PSUs to speed up promotions for these employees and introduce a sabbatical policy too.   


What central government employees are looking for is a hike in 7th pay commission based salaries as per a fitment factor of 3.68 times. They say the current amount of 2.57 fitment factor is not enough to meet their demands.
