Strange behaviour of passengers travelling in Delhi Metro has come to fore in a reply to an RTI filed by a news agency. In one such incident, a passenger was reportedly found travelling on the roof of Delhi Metro rail. Yes, you read that right! On the roof of the train! But what is even more surprising is the fact that the person was fined only Rs 50 by the authorities! Amazingly, the fine for squatting on the floor of the train is Rs 200!

A PTI report also informed that a massive fine of nearly Rs 90 lakh was collected from travellers by Delhi metro from June 2017 to May 2018 for offences like sitting on the floor of trains, littering, creating a nuisance, travelling with undervalued tokens and obstructing officials on duty.

Meanwhile, national auditor Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has rapped the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for incurring an "avoidable expenditure" of Rs 48.16 crore on the construction of the integrated MIA metro station, said PTI report.

Tabling its report in Parliament yesterday, the CAG reportedly cited failure on part of the DMRC while entering into an agreement with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to incorporate a provision that additional expenditure on the integrated Mundka Industrial Area (MIA) station would be met by the authority.

The CAG reportedly said that despite substantive changes in the scope of work planned in the detailed project report (DPR) and additional expenditure of Rs 48.16 crore, the DMRC management failed to seek the approval of the Board of Directors, which is required in such matters.
