Weather Update: Heavy rain alert in Rajasthan; Badrinath Highway blocked, IMD issues yellow alert for Delhi-NCR

Jaipur's Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert in Eastern Rajasthan for severe rainfall. The weather office alert for heavy rainfall in several districts.
Meanwhile, due to heavy and continuous rainfall from last night, the Badrinath highway is blocked, and work to open the road is underway. The team faces problems as stones continuously fall, hindering the work to reopen the route.
Heavy rainfall alert in Rajasthan
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center, explained that a cyclonic circulation over western Uttar Pradesh is driving moderate to heavy rains across the region.
According to Sharma, several districts have reported heavy rainfall measuring up to 190 millimetres. Other areas, such as Tonk and Dholpur, have also experienced significant rainfall. The impact of this weather system, accompanied by thunder and heavy rain, is expected to persist for the next two to three days.
The Kota division--specifically Baran, Kota, Bundi, and Jhalawar districts--has been placed under an orange alert, signalling the possibility of more than 200 millimetres of rain within 24 hours. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecasted to continue in the Jaipur, Udaipur, and Bharatpur divisions.
Badrinath highway blocked
Chamoli Police, Uttarakhand, and Chardham Police Control Room have informed the tourists and devotees about the blockage of the Badrinath National Highway near Bhanerpani, Pipalkoti.
Taking to its official X account, the Chamoli police wrote, "Due to continuous rain since late night, the Badrinath National Highway is blocked near #Bhanerpani (Pipalkoti). The work to open it is going on.
Due to the continuous falling of stones from the hill, the work of opening the road is being hindered.
The tweet said, "Passengers are requested to please maintain patience. Helpline number 0135-2714484 Contact 9897846203."
Delhi-NCR weather alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad on Monday, June 23.
Such circumstances are expected to persist over the next two days, June 24 and 25, according to the weather office.
According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance into parts of Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir over the next two days.
