CM Yogi inaugurates Ashok Leyland electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Lucknow

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday were present at the ceremony of the new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant of the company Ashok Leyland in Uttar Pradesh.

The dignitaries took a tour of the plant, and on the factory ground, they planted saplings. CM Yogi expressed his gratitude to the Hinduja Group for their faith in Uttar Pradesh and its contribution to the state's development-journey.

Turning back to the situation before 2017, CM Yogi said Uttar Pradesh had been presenting signals of insecurity and instability, which were deterrent to investors coming in. He further talked about the present government taking charge in 2017 and gradually working towards restoring order and overcoming the fear factor.

How is Uttar Pradesh converting potential into performance?

Today, Uttar Pradesh is a state that makes great use of its extensive resources and turns them into productive results.

He further said, the Chief Minister said the inauguration itself is a testament to the growing trust of the industries in the state.

He further mentioned the new plant is going to initially produce 2,500 electric vehicles per year but that number will increase to 5,000 in the future.

Infrastructure expansion strengthens statewide connectivity

CM Yogi stated that now investments are reaching every district of Uttar Pradesh which is 75 in total. He mentioned that the state accounts for 55 per cent of India's expressways and has the largest railway network in the country.

Metro services are running in various cities, the state is traversed by two freight corridors, and logistics hubs are being set up. Also, rapid rail services and inland waterways have been launched.

He added that Uttar Pradesh has left behind the period of riots and identity issues and has turned into a state of festivity.

The state is not considered a ‘BIMARU’ state anymore and has transitioned to a revenue-surplus state. The new Uttar Pradesh is characterized by fearless business, ease of doing business, and trust in governance.

The Chief Minister announced that the state has sector-specific policies for 34 sectors which allows the investors to invest in any sector of their choice.

He further stated that Uttar Pradesh has attracted investment proposals of ₹45 lakh crore in the last few years and a number of projects are already in progress.

The state is now responsible for 9.5 per cent of India's GDP and its GSDP is projected to reach ₹36 lakh crore in the current financial year.

Uttar Pradesh’s progress towards a $1 Trillion economy

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath revealed that the state had already taken a crucial step towards the fulfillment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of a developed India by 2029-30 when its economy was aspired to be a $1 trillion one.

He made known the state's development in various sectors such as electronics, IT, startups, electric vehicles, defense manufacturing, tourism, and advanced technologies.

He further elaborated that currently, Uttar Pradesh produces a significant portion of India's mobile phones and electronic goods and is also the birthplace of more than 18,000 startups.

Among the several high-profile projects endorsed by the state, the Ashok Leyland EV plant is worth mentioning, since it was set up under the company's FDI and Fortune 500 policy and was finished in only 18 months, thanks to the swift approvals.

Skill development to prepare future-ready workforce

In addition, Yogi Adityanath indicated that the Hinduja Group was going to enter into a collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government, as the MoU was to be signed for the yearly training of 10,000 young people by the company.

He added that the state with its huge labor force was now ready to change its image by means of trust, technology, and transformation.
