UP Budget 2026-27 Announced: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has presented its 10th budget of the state today, February 11, focusing primarily on growth, investment and inclusive development. Presenting the Budget Estimates for the financial year 2026–27, State Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna underlined the UP government’s commitment to all-round development, highlighting progress across economic growth, industry, infrastructure, employment generation, agriculture and social welfare.

His speech in the state's legislative Assembly reflected a broad vision of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a high-growth, investment-driven and inclusive economy.

Strong Macroeconomic Indicators

  • State's gross state domestic product (GSDP) for 2024-25 (as per revised estimates) has been pegged at Rs 30.25 lakh crore, showing a growth of 13.4 per cent over the previous year.
  • Per capita income has risen to Rs 1,09,844, more than double the Rs 54,564 recorded in 2016-17. And it is projected to reach Rs 120,000 by 2025-26.
  • The government said that about 60 million (six crore) people have been lifted out of multidimensional poverty, while the unemployment rate has declined to 2.24 per cent.
  • The state has also improved its position in the SDG India Index, moving up from 29th place in 2018-19 to 18th place in 2023-24.

Agriculture and Rural Development

  • Re-establishing its position as a leading agricultural state, Uttar Pradesh continues to register the highest contribution at the national level in the production of wheat, paddy, sugarcane, potato, banana, mango, guava, amla and mint.
  • There has been a significant expansion in irrigated area compared to 2016-17, while cropping intensity has increased from 162.7 per cent to 193.7 per cent in 2024-25.
  • A record amount of over Rs 3,04,321 crore has been paid for sugarcane during the tenure of the current government – ​​much more than the combined payments of the last 22 years.
  • Procurement of wheat, paddy and millet during the marketing season 2025-26 has ensured timely payment to farmers.

Energy and Infrastructure

  • Thermal power generation capacity has increased from 5,878 MW in 2016-17 to 9,120 MW by December 2025, representing an increase of over 55 per cent.
  • In line with clean energy goals, solar projects with a total capacity of 2,815 MW have been installed across the state.

Youth Empowerment and Employment

  • In the last five years, 9.25 lakh youth have been trained under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, out of which more than 4.22 lakh have got employment in reputed companies.
  • More than 23,000 students are being provided free coaching at 163 Abhyudaya centres.
  • Around 49.86 lakh tablets and smartphones have been distributed under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme.
  • The Chief Minister Fellowship Programme is being implemented in 108 aspirational blocks to involve youth in governance.
  • More than 20 crore person-days of employment have been generated under MGNREGA so far in the current financial year.
  • Since 2017, more than 2,19,000 posts have been recruited in the police department, including 1,83,766 men and 35,443 women, and 1,58,000 personnel have been promoted.

Women and Labour Welfare

  • In the financial year 2025-2026, 39,880 B.C. Sakhis in 58,000 Gram Panchayats carried out financial transactions worth more than Rs 39,000 crore and earned a profit of approximately Rs 107 crore.
  • Under Mission Shakti and Safe City Project, arrangements like CCTV network, women police patrolling and hostels for working women are being strengthened.
  • In the area of ​​labour welfare, new "labour addas" are proposed for migrant workers, while accident compensation for registered unorganised workers and mobile health vans for construction workers are being implemented.
  • Uttar Pradesh Employment Mission has been formed to expand employment opportunities at the national and international level.

Investment and Industrial Growth

  • The 4th Global Investors Summit held in February last year resulted in the signing of MoUs worth about Rs 50 lakh crore, which have the potential to generate about 10 lakh jobs.
  • Of these, till now, four ground-breaking ceremonies of more than 16 thousand projects with an investment of about Rs 15 lakh crore have been completed.
