Bodke, son of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal commissioner Govind Bodke, ranked 54 in the civil services 2017 examinations, the results of which were announced on Friday. This was Digvijay’s third attempt. “In the second attempt,” said Digvijay, “I was selected for IPS, but wanted to attempt one more time.” Govind, an IAS himself, said, “My son is a gold medalist — he stood 1st in Civil Engineering in Pune University. I am very proud of him.”
Girish Badole from Kasgi village in Umarga district topped the exams in Maharashtra, and ranked 20 overall. He is also the only student from Maharashtra to be counted among the top 50. Eight students from the state made it to the top 100 and Maharashtra broke its own record of successful candidates - going up to 100 from last year’s 90.
