Holi 2025: With Holi around the corner, the UP Police have issued guidelines stressing the importance of traditional celebrations while prohibiting new customs. Authorities have also directed officials to identify potential troublemakers and implement preventive measures based on past festival-related disputes.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have rolled out a comprehensive set of guidelines ahead of Holi 2025, with a strong focus on maintaining law and order. Given that Holi coincides with Friday Ramzan prayers on March 14, authorities have implemented stringent measures to prevent any communal tensions and ensure peaceful celebrations.
UP police guidelines for Holi celebrations 2025:
No new traditions allowed: The police have made it clear that no new customs or traditions will be permitted during Holi celebrations. Officials will inspect all Holika Dahan sites, and meetings will be held with organisers to discuss safety protocols.
Enhanced security at key locations: Special security arrangements will be implemented, including poster party and morning checking teams. Bomb disposal squads (BDS) and sniffer dogs will conduct inspections at crowded areas and important establishments.

Hotspots under strict surveillance: Past incidents will be analysed to identify sensitive locations, where additional police forces will be deployed. A zonal and sector-based policing system will be in place to manage security efficiently.
Surveillance through CCTV and drones: In mixed-population areas, along procession routes, and at communal hotspots, CCTV cameras and drones will be used to monitor activities and prevent any disturbances.
Holi-Ramadan coordination: Since Holi and Ramadan coincide, the police will work with organisers to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration without conflicts.

Round-the-clock social media monitoring: A 24x7 monitoring team will keep an eye on misleading or inflammatory posts on social media platforms. Immediate legal action will be taken against violators to curb misinformation and unrest.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Karnail Singh has urged the Muslim community to respect the festival by offering prayers at home."I request my Muslim brothers, our festival (Holi) comes once a year. We respect you, you also please respect our festival and offer Namaz at your homes only," Singh stated.
