West Bengal New CM Announced: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday announced Suvendu Adhikari as the new Chief Minister of West Bengal, ending days of speculation over the BJP’s leadership choice after the party’s historic victory in the state assembly elections.

Adhikari, who was elected as the BJP legislature party leader, will take oath as Chief Minister at 11 am on Saturday at Kolkata’s iconic Brigade Parade Ground.

The announcement marks a major political milestone for the BJP, which is set to form its first-ever government in West Bengal after ending the Trinamool Congress’ 15-year rule in the state.

Adhikari played a key role in the BJP’s Bengal campaign and gained national attention after defeating former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur constituency during the assembly elections.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and several BJP and NDA leaders.

Dibyendu Adhikari reacts to CM announcement

Reacting to Suvendu Adhikari’s elevation, his brother Dibyendu Adhikari said the development reflected the party’s collective effort and organisational work.

Commenting on Mamata Banerjee, Dibyendu Adhikari alleged that “even while leaving, Mamata Banerjee did not accept the Constitution and did not resign.”

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions in the state following the change in power.
