UP Government Prepares Action Plan To Tackle Heatwave After IMD Warning: The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh administration has issued directions across its departments to roll out preventive measures to ensure public safety during heatwave conditions. The development comes at a time when the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted severe heatwave conditions in several parts of the country in the next one month or so.

- The UP government’s Revenue Department (Disaster Management) has directed all its departments to implement robust preventive measures to ensure public safety in light of the IMD’s warning about predicted heatwave conditions.
- The Yogi Adityanath-led state government has outlined three main priorities with an aim to minimise risks while protecting citizens against heatwave conditions:
- Preparedness
- Resource allocation
- Emergency response strategies
- The state government will soon implement its ‘state heatwave action plan’ across districts. It has declared the imminent heatwave a state-level disaster.
- The action plan includes special city-specific measures for Agra, Jhansi and Lucknow.
- CM Adityanath has emphasised the need for public awareness campaigns to educate people about the risks associated with heatwave conditions, according to an official statement from his office.

- The state has set up a system to issue weather-related warnings across the state. This drive is available on the mobile app ‘Sachet’ as well as the Integrated Early Warning Portal by the Relief Commissioner’s Office.
- With a focus on training and capacity building, the Yogi administration’s State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has conducted meetings and training sessions with all departments, stakeholders and district officials.
- The state has appointed nodal officers, with the Relief Commissioner overseeing efforts at the state level and ADMs (F/R) managing heatwave response at the district level, said the CMO.
- The state has set up a dedicated control room at the Relief Commissioner’s Office to provide information and assistance related to heatwave conditions.
- A dedicated helpline, 1070, has been activated to ensure people can seek immediate help when needed.
