Stock Markets Today: BSE Sensex, NSE Nifty open on positive note; Axis Bank, Indusind Bank, Bajaj Finance top gainers
All the stocks in the 30 share BSE Sensex were trading in green. The top gainers on Monday at the time of opening were Axis Bank, Indusind Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank
The stock markets today opened on a positive note taking from where they left off on Friday. Both the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were up by over 1.5 per cent soon after the markets opened. While the Sensex was trading at 32,945.30, up by over 521 points, the broader market Nifty 50 traded at 9,724.20, up by 143.90 point from the Friday close.
All the stocks in the 30 share BSE Sensex were trading in green. The top gainers on Monday at the time of opening were Axis Bank, Indusind Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank.
Meanwhile, Adani Ports, Sun Pharmaceuticals, HDFC, TCS and Reliance Industries were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Monday in the opening trade. The top losers were Bharti Infratel, NTPC, GAIL and Hero MotoCorp.
On Friday, Sensex ended at 32,424.10, up by 0.7 per cent while the Nifty 50 closed at 9,580.30, up by 0.9 per cent .
Today, the rupee was trading at 75.5550 against the USD at 9:25 am.
Asian share markets started on a cautious note and gold gained on Monday as images of riots in burning US cities unnerved investors already tense over Washington`s power struggle with Beijing.

E-Mini futures for the S&P 500 retreated 0.5% in early action, while gold rose 0.77 per cent to USD 1,739 an ounce. Oil prices also slipped, while sovereign bonds picked up the usual safe-haven bid. MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged up 0.2 per cent, as did Japan`s Nikkei.
