Sensex, Nifty slip into negative zone after positive opening

After opening positively in the early morning session, the key equity indices-Sensex and Nifty- have slipped into negative zone on the stock exchanges on Wednesday.

The 30-scrip sensitive index Sensex on Wednesday opened on a higher note during the morning session of the trade.

However, the markets soon entered the negative zone.

The Sensex of the BSE, after opening at 31,222.51 points, touched a high of 31,233.68 points and a low of 31,119.50 points.

On Tuesday, the Sensex closed at 31,159.40 points.

The Sensex is trading at 31,121.74 points down by 29,58 points or 0.09%.

On the other hand, the broader 51-scrip Nifty at National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened at 9,636.55 points after closing at 9,624.55 points.

The Nifty is trading at 9,623.40 points in the morning.
