Sensex surged 135.73 points, or 0.36%, ending at 37691.89. During the intraday trade, the 30-share index had also hit an all-time of 37805.25, breaking its previous intra-day record level of 37,711.87. Nifty settled at a historic high of 11387.10 rising 26.30 points, or 0.23%, surpassing its previous record close of 11360.80 hit on Friday.
BSE Bankex (1.11%) was the most gaining sector followed by Energy (0.98%) and Metal (0.77%). Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel and Hero Motor Corp were the most contributing stocks on Sensex rising as much as 3.86%.
