Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced a major push towards clean and green public transport. She said that within the next three years, all public transport buses in Delhi will be converted into an emission-free electric fleet. The announcement was made during the Republic Day celebrations at Chhatrasal Stadium in the national capital.
The Chief Minister said this step will help make Delhi cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally friendly.
Addressing the gathering, CM Rekha Gupta said the Delhi government has doubled its capital expenditure to support development projects. She announced that Rs 30,000 crore will now be spent on capital expenditure in Delhi.
She said the government has already made all arrangements to bring 11,000 electric buses to the city. Along with this, the infrastructure needed to support these buses is also being built quickly.

“These steps are being taken so that Delhi can fully shift to clean public transport in the coming years,” she said, ANI reported.
The Chief Minister said electric buses will play a big role in reducing pollution and improving the quality of life for people in Delhi. She added that the government is working fast to make sure the city is ready for this big change.
With better buses, better infrastructure, and zero emissions, the government aims to give citizens a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable travel experience.
CM Rekha Gupta also spoke about health welfare during her address. She said that Ayushman Bharat, one of the world’s largest health schemes, was implemented in Delhi on the very first day of the BJP government’s formation.
She shared that 6.5 lakh people have already registered under the scheme. The scheme provides health insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh to eligible beneficiaries.
“This scheme is meant to support the poor and needy and ensure that no one is denied healthcare,” she said.
Talking about the government’s work so far, CM Rekha Gupta said the BJP government has completed 11 months in office and has taken many decisions for public welfare.
She said when the government took charge, it faced many challenges. According to her, the biggest challenge was clearing the problems that had built up in the system over the years.
Following the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, the government has focused on real and positive changes in people’s lives.
During the Republic Day event, CM Rekha Gupta unfurled the national flag and reviewed the parade at Chhatrasal Stadium.
She paid tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. She said the Constitution of India is the soul of the country and has guided India for 77 years with values of justice, equality, and dignity.
“India remembers all efforts, from the making of the Constitution to nation-building,” she said.
