Rajasthan Budget 2026-27: Rajasthan’s Budget for the financial year 2026-27 has brought a major announcement for government employees with the state deciding to set up a high-level committee for the 8th Pay Commission. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, presenting the Budget in the Assembly, said the move will pave the way for revisions in salaries and allowances, while the government also rolled out a wide package of measures focused on youth employment, infrastructure expansion and rural support.
Alongside the pay commission decision, the Budget speech highlighted interest-free loans for self-employment, large-scale road development, drinking water projects and new initiatives in education, skill training and industrial growth.
One of the most closely watched announcements in the Budget was the government’s decision to form a high-level committee linked to the 8th Pay Commission. Officials said the panel will look into pay structures and benefits for state employees, a step expected to impact a large section of Rajasthan’s workforce.
The announcement is likely to be significant for government staff who have been awaiting clarity on future salary revisions.
In a major push for self-employment, Diya Kumari said the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme will provide interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh, along with subsidies. The government said around 30,000 young people are expected to benefit from the scheme in the coming year.
The government said the scheme is meant to help young people start their own ventures with easier access to funds, without worrying about heavy interest payments.
The Budget also announced plans to set up a Rajasthan Testing Agency, similar to the National Testing Agency, to conduct key examinations, including online tests.
The new body will conduct examinations, including online tests, in an effort to strengthen transparency and efficiency in recruitment and academic assessments.
This comes amid repeated concerns over examination processes and the need for more robust testing systems in the state.
Diya Kumari announced that 1,000 youth will receive training in English, Japanese and Korean to improve employability. The government also plans to open skill development centres in every district with support from industry partners.
In addition, new Techno Hubs will be developed at a cost of Rs 30 crore to promote innovation and modern job-oriented learning.
The Budget also included support for students. The government said meritorious Class 10 and 12 students will get up to Rs 20,000 through e-vouchers to buy laptops, helping them access digital learning tools.
Infrastructure was another major focus in the Budget. Finance Minister Diya Kumari announced plans to develop 42,000 km of roads across the state.
The government also said it will build 250 Atal Pragati Paths at a cost of Rs 500 crore, with the aim of improving connectivity to industrial areas and upcoming logistics hubs.
On rural infrastructure, the Budget highlighted major work orders worth Rs 24,000 crore for drinking water projects.
Within one year, the state plans to provide 3 lakh new tap connections, while 6,500 villages will be connected under the ‘Har Ghar Nal’ scheme, officials said.
To boost industrial growth, Diya Kumari announced new industrial parks worth Rs 350 crore. Around 3,600 hectares of land will be developed in the Jodhpur-Pali-Marwar industrial region, with Rs 600 crore to be spent over the next two years.
The Budget also proposed inland container depots to back new logistics hubs and improve trade-related infrastructure across Rajasthan.
