'Proud moment,' says PM Modi as domestic coal output hits 1 billion tonne milestone

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday announced that domestic coal production has reached to 1 billion tonne, citing that with cutting-edge technologies and efficient methods, we have not only increased production but also ensured sustainable and responsible mining.

"This achievement will fuel our increasing power demands, drive economic growth, and ensure a brighter future for every Indian," Reddy adds.

Taking to a microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), the Minister for Coal and Mines said 

Historic Milestone!... India has crossed a monumental 1 BILLION TONNES of coal production!".

"With cutting-edge technologies and efficient methods, we’ve not only increased production but also ensured sustainable and responsible mining. This achievement will fuel our increasing power demands, drive economic growth, and ensure a brighter future for every Indian." the post wrote.

Tagging to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Reddy lauded, "Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi, India is on its path to becoming a global energy leader."

In a reply, the PM said "A Proud Moment for India!... Crossing the monumental milestone of 1 billion tonnes of coal production is a remarkable achievement, highlighting our commitment to energy security, economic growth and self-reliance."

"This feat also reflects the dedication and hard work of all those associated with the sector," Modi added.

Coal India stock rises over 3%

On Friday, the PSU stock Coal India gained as much as 3.59 per cent hitting an intraday high of Rs 410.90 and a low of Rs 396.65. At the last count (3:25 pm), it was trading at Rs 404.05, up nearly 2 per cent, apiece on the NSE website.
