Prashant Kishor Jan Suraaj Bihar Election Results 2025: As counting began on Friday for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surged ahead, while debutant Jan Suraaj—led by political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor—failed to register any impact in the early trends.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI)'s data, the NDA has already crossed the majority mark, leading on 188 seats. This includes 75 seats for the Janata Dal (United), 85 for the Bharatiya Janata Party, and smaller tallies for allies Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular).

In stark contrast, Jan Suraaj—which positioned itself as a “third alternative” to both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan—is trailing across the state. Despite contesting nearly all 243 seats, the party is yet to open its account and appears to be holding marginal leads in only a few constituencies.

The party’s expansive grassroots campaign, including Prashant Kishor’s year-long “Jan Suraaj Padyatra” and the decision to field several first-time candidates, has not translated into votes so far. The early numbers indicate that Jan Suraaj has struggled to dent the vote shares of the two dominant alliances, underscoring the difficulty of disrupting Bihar’s entrenched bipolar political landscape.

Exit polls had unanimously predicted a poor performance for Kishor’s outfit. Most agencies projected a vote share of 3–4 per cent and zero seats, with the most generous estimates capping Jan Suraaj’s potential tally at five. Though Kishor did not contest himself, the party’s vote share will reveal whether it succeeded in carving out any measurable political space.

As per ECI’s early trends at 11:41 pm, the NDA is leading in 188 seats (BJP 85, JD(U) 75, LJP(RV) 22, HAMS 4, RLM 2), while the Mahagathbandhan is ahead in 51 seats (RJD 36, Congress 6, CPI(ML)L 7, VIP 1, CPI(M) 1).
