Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly rejected a media report claiming that the government was considering imposing a tax or cess on foreign travel, calling the allegation “totally false” and stating that there is “not an iota of truth” in it.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said there was no proposal to introduce any such restrictions on overseas travel. “This is totally false. Not an iota of truth in this. The report had claimed that a proposal to levy a tax or cess on foreign travel was under discussion at the “highest levels” of the government. However, the claim was firmly denied by the Prime Minister, who labelled it incorrect.

Calling public participation essential during the ongoing global crisis, the Prime Minister said, “Living for the country and fulfilling our duties towards the nation is also patriotism.”
He made seven key appeals to citizens:

<h2>Petrol, diesel and CNG prices hiked across India</h2>
Fuel prices were revised upward across the country on Friday, as state-run oil marketing companies increased petrol and diesel rates by up to Rs 3 per litre following continued fluctuations in global crude oil prices. The new rates took effect immediately.
In Delhi, petrol prices climbed by Rs 3 to Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel rates rose to Rs 90.67 per litre. The increase comes as oil retailers attempt to balance rising international energy costs.
Among the four metro cities, Kolkata witnessed the sharpest rise in petrol prices, with rates going up by Rs 3.29 to Rs 108.74 per litre.
Mumbai saw petrol prices increase by Rs 3.14, taking the retail price to Rs 106.68 per litre. In Chennai, petrol became costlier by Rs 2.83 and is now priced at Rs 103.67 per litre.
Diesel prices were also hiked across major metro cities. In Kolkata, diesel rates rose by Rs 3.11 to Rs 95.13 per litre, while Mumbai recorded a similar increase, pushing diesel prices to Rs 93.14 per litre. Chennai saw diesel prices go up by Rs 2.86 to Rs 95.25 per litre.
Apart from conventional fuels, LNG prices were also raised by Rs 2 per kg. CNG prices, too, were revised upward in Delhi and Mumbai. In the national capital, the price of CNG was increased by Rs 2 per kg, taking it to Rs 79.09 per kg from the earlier Rs 77.09 per kg.
Mumbai had already witnessed a Rs 2 per kg hike in CNG prices a day earlier. Following the revision, CNG in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will now cost Rs 84 per kg.
