
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Banswara on Thursday, September 25, to inaugurate and lay the foundation for development works worth Rs 1.08 lakh crore, according to officials, reported by IANS. The projects span energy, infrastructure, water and healthcare with the centrepiece being the Rs 42,000 crore Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project.
The nuclear project, with a generation capacity of 2,800 MW, is expected to play a key role in boosting India's power sector. In addition, PM Modi will launch a 590 MW renewable energy project in Bikaner worth Rs 8,500 crore and dedicate 1,400 MW of solar projects to the nation, including the 925 MW Nokh Solar Park in Phalodi developed at a cost of Rs 10,710 crore.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 895 MW decentralised solar plants under the PM KUSUM-C scheme valued at Rs 3,132 crore. Transmission infrastructure will be strengthened with 15.5 GW of new power lines across Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sirohi, Nagaur, and Bikaner at a cost of Rs 13,183 crore, alongside new substations worth Rs 490 crore across Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer.
During the programme, PM Modi will virtually flag off two Vande Bharat trains from Bikaner and Jodhpur to Delhi and the Udaipur-Chandigarh Express. For road and transport infrastructure, foundation stones will be laid for two flyovers, a bridge across the Banas River, and 119 Atal Pragati Paths in Bharatpur with an investment of Rs 878 crore. Road projects worth Rs 1,758 crore across Barmer, Ajmer, Beawar, Dungarpur, Bhartrihari Nagar, Banswara, Rajsamand and Udaipur will also be inaugurated.
Fifteen drinking water schemes worth Rs 5,884 crore will be launched across 11 districts, including Banswara, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur, Barmer, Dausa, Churu, Ajmer, Bhilwara and Sikar.
Irrigation capacity will be enhanced with the inauguration of works such as the Isarda Dam, Dholpur Lift, and Battisanala projects, amounting to Rs 2,365 crore.
Urban infrastructure will receive a boost with sewerage and water supply works in Didwana-Kuchaman and Jhunjhunu, worth Rs 226 crore. PM Modi will also dedicate a Rs 140 crore IT Development and e-Governance Centre and a 250-bed facility at RBM Hospital in Bharatpur, built at a cost of Rs 128 crore.
