Bihar Election 2025: Following the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) sweeping victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, political activity has intensified as leaders begin finalising the new government. With the ruling coalition crossing the 200-seat mark in the 243-member legislature, attention has turned to power-sharing, Cabinet composition, and the upcoming swearing-in ceremony.

According to an IANS report, since Saturday morning, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence at 1 Aney Marg has emerged as the centre of discussions. JD(U) Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh were among the first visitors, followed by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Minister Chirag Paswan.

Later, senior JD(U) leaders Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Shyam Rajak, along with newly-elected MLAs and officials, joined the meetings. Sources said the deliberations are focused on finalising Cabinet structure, assigning portfolios, and preparing for the oath-taking ceremon

Chirag Paswan credits Nitish Kumar for NDA’s victory

After meeting with Nitish Kumar, LJP-Ram Vilas leader Chirag Paswan praised the NDA’s landslide win, “Rumours of internal differences within the NDA were politically motivated, and the landslide victory itself proved the strength of the alliance.”

He added, “The NDA’s victory was a mandate for stability, unity, and development, and the new government would move forward with even stronger coordination.” Paswan also highlighted Nitish Kumar’s visible support for the alliance during voting and the LJP-Ram Vilas’ support to the JD(U) on the Alauli seat as key factors in consolidating the win.

NDA wins with three-fourth majority

Beating the anti-incumbency factor, Nitish Kumar led the NDA to a commanding win, with the coalition securing 202 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 89 seats, while JD(U) took 85. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (S) 5, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha 4.

The opposition Mahagathbandhan suffered a major setback, managing just 35 seats. RJD won 25 seats, Congress 6, CPI(ML)(L) 2, and CPI(M) 1. The AIMIM captured 5 seats, with IIP and BSP sharing the remaining winners. NDA’s total vote share stood at 46.7 per cent, compared to the opposition’s 37.5 per cent, reflecting a decisive mandate for stability and development in Bihar. Voting was held in two phases, recording 65.08 per cent turnout in Phase 1 on November 6 and 68.79 per cent in Phase 2 on November 11. Analysts noted that Nitish Kumar’s flagship Mahila Rojgar Yojana, under which Rs 10,000 was given to around 1.25 crore women, played a significant role in consolidating support for the alliance.
