Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, on Wednesday, praised the efforts of the National Turmeric Board (NTB) and stated that the board is instrumental in the process of farmers' empowerment and the world-wide promotion of turmeric exports.

The Minister said the above while marking the first year of the Board. He added that the Board has already taken major steps in its very first year towards the objectives of increasing production, farmers' support, and boosting exports.
Goyal shared his views on the social media platform X, saying, "The Board has made tremendous progress in achieving these targets as it was set up with the purpose of increasing the production of this golden spice, empowering our farmers, and promoting turmeric exports globally."

India's export figures reflect the impact of the Turmeric Board's work. Turmeric exports in the fiscal year 2024-25 surged by more than 50.7 per cent, to $341.54 million, from $226.58 million in the previous year. 
<h2 data-end="1698" data-start="1653">Export volumes increase significantly</h2>
Jitin Prasada, the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, announced that India exported more than 1.76 lakh metric tonnes of turmeric in 2024-25, as opposed to 1.62 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24. The numbers indicate a strong increase in both quantity and value of turmeric exports.
India is the largest producer of turmeric in the world, with a market share of approximately 66 per cent. 
The major countries importing turmeric from India since 2020 are Bangladesh, the UAE, the USA, Malaysia, and Morocco. This indicates that Indian turmeric has a wide international market as the first-class product.

The National Turmeric Board not only focuses on the export but also works to enhance the whole value chain of turmeric. 
It conducts market research, provides financial assistance, and creates awareness of turmeric and turmeric-related goods in overseas markets.
