<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated several development projects in Kerala and flagged off four new trains, including three Amrit Bharat Express services.  He also launched the PM SVANidhi Credit Card and distributed loans to one lakh beneficiaries, marking a major push for financial inclusion.</p>
<p>Addressing a large gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, PM Modi greeted the crowd with a warm “Namaskaram!” and congratulated P P Rajesh, recently sworn in as the city’s Mayor, noting the BJP’s historic victory in the municipal elections. The prime minister highlighted that Kerala’s development is gaining momentum, with improved rail connectivity and efforts to turn Thiruvananthapuram into a startup hub.</p>
<p>“The PM SVANidhi Credit Card is a new beginning for the welfare of the poor across the country,” PM Modi said while handing out loans to street vendors under the scheme. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar were also present at the event.</p>

<p>The new train services include the Nagercoil-Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram-Tambaram, and Thiruvananthapuram-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express trains, along with a passenger train running between Thrissur and Guruvayur. The services will enhance travel between distant areas and nearby regions throughout Kerala and Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by providing safer and quicker and more convenient travel options.</p>
<p>The enhanced rail network will also promote tourism, trade, education, and cultural exchange, while providing a strong push to local economies. The Amrit Bharat Express trains will improve travel for millions of passengers by connecting major cities and towns.</p>

<h2><strong>Urban livelihoods, innovation, and healthcare in focus</strong></h2>
<p>PM Modi introduced the PM SVANidhi Credit Card which functions as a UPI-based interest-free service that helps street vendors and urban informal workers. The program provides beneficiaries with instant cash access while enabling them to establish official credit records which lead to financial independence and business growth.</p>
<p>PM Modi laid the foundation of the CSIR-NIIST Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub which he created in Thiruvananthapuram. The centre will support startups through its research activities which focus on biotechnology and green hydrogen and sustainable packaging and the integration of Ayurveda with modern scientific methods.</p>
<p>During his visit, prime minister also reviewed the local healthcare facilities and inaugurated a new Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute, which  will provide advanced, minimally invasive treatment for patients with complex brain conditions. He also opened the new Poojappura Head Post Office, which offers digital banking and insurance services to make it easier for citizens to access essential services.</p>
