Karnataka Bandh Tomorrow: Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka will witnessing disruptions tomorrow, starting 6 am to 6 pm Saturday (March 22) as several pro-Kannada organisations have called for a 12-hour state-wide bandh.
The protest is being staged in response to the alleged assault of a bus conductor in Belagavi last month for not knowing Marathi. While the bandh is affecting transport, schools, and businesses, the Karnataka government is not supporting it, as SSLC (Class 10) exams are underway.
- Schools and colleges in Bengaluru and other districts might stay closed due to precaution.
- Fewer taxis and autos will be available since some unions are supporting the bandh.
- Major markets like Chickpet, KR Market, and Gandhi Bazaar may be partially or fully closed.
- Malls, movie theatres, and entertainment places might shut down if protests get bigger.
- BMTC and KSRTC buses may not run as usual, but there’s no official suspension.
- Some banks may have fewer staff if employees have trouble reaching work.
- Namma Metro will run like usual, but getting there might be tough since fewer taxis and autos will be available.
- Hospitals and medical stores will remain operational.
- Petrol pumps will also remain open.
- Trains and flights will also stay unaffected, but it's better to leave early just in case.
- Delivery apps like Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart will still be working.
- Swiggy and Zomato will deliver food, but only from restaurants that stay open.
The Bengaluru police have deployed additional security forces in sensitive areas, including Majestic, Town Hall, Mysore Bank Circle, and Freedom Park, where protests are expected. Commuters have been advised to stay updated on traffic alerts and plan accordingly.
