Kabir Singh box office collection day 3: Most people had sensed that Kabir Singh could be Shahid Kapoor's biggest solo film so far, going by the buzz around its promo. But, even the most loyal Shahid Kapoor fans would not have expected the film to dominate the BO the way it is currently doing. Also, starring Kiara Advani in the lead role, Kabir Singh released to huge fanfare and registered a massive opening on Friday by raking in Rs 20.21 crore. It is now the biggest opening for a Shahid Kapoor starrer, even beating Sanjay Leela Bhansali's multi-starrer Padmavat which also had Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's starpower to go with it.
Good word of mouth has helped Kabir Singh grow over the weekend. Even though the official numbers for Sunday are yet to be out, Film Trade analyst, critic and influencer Sumit Kadel tweeted that the film was running with 85 to 90 per cent occupancy and might end up earning around Rs 26-27 crore. This would take film's overall collection to around Rs 70 crore in the first weekend.
"#Kabirsingh Sunday- Film is Running with 85-90% occupancy across India. Approx 15% growth compared to Saturday. Sunday collection could be ₹ 26-27 cr nett," Kadel said in a tweet on Sunday night. With this, Kabir Singh might emerge as Shahid biggest release till date, beating the lifetime collection of Rajkumar Rao within three days.
In another tweet on Monday morning, Kadel added that the film is witnessing decent numbers even on Monday and should mint in double digits despite it being a working day. "As i said in my video yesterday, #KabirSingh will have a double digit Monday, film has started with a bang today & having just 25-30% drop compared to Friday. Huge ₹ 11-14 cr Monday on cards," he added.
On Saturday too, Kabir Singh had managed to earn Rs 22.71 crore despite India vs Afghanistan match in the ICC ODI World Cup.
"#KabirSingh is unstoppable and unshakeable... Continues its heroic run on Day 2... Scores big numbers, despite #INDvAFG #CWC19 cricket match... Eyes ₹ 70 cr [+/-] weekend... Fantastic trending PAN India... Fri 20.21 cr, Sat 22.71 cr. Total: ₹ 42.92 cr. India biz," movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
