In light of a deadly terror attack near J&amp;K’s Pahalgam area, Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India on Wednesday morning, cutting short his official visit to Saudi Arabia. Originally, his visit to the Gulf country was scheduled to end later on Wednesday. He was briefed by the National Security Advisor, the External Affairs Minister and the Finance Secretary at the airport immediately after his arrival in the national capital in the early hours on Wednesday. He had flown to Saudi on April 22.
The Cabinet Committee on Security is set to meet at 11 am to review the situation in J&amp;K. 
 
 
 
On Tuesday afternoon, more than 20 people were feared dead after a group of over 10 militants opened fire at tourists in a meadow in the Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir.
This was PM Modi’s third official visit to the Kingdom. It followed Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s state visit to India in September 2023 to attend the G20 Summit and co-chair the first meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council.

<h2>FM Nirmala Sitharaman cuts short US &amp; Peru visit</h2>
Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also decided to cut short her official visit to the US and Peru after the J&amp;K incident. She was set to take the earliest available flight to return to India.
