Prime Minister Narendra Modi has engaged in diplomatic talks with at least eight leaders in the Middle East within a span of 48 hours amid rising regional tensions. The development comes at a time when Tehran has targered several regions in the Middle East, especially those with American military bases, in its retaliatory action after the US-Israel joint attack against it that left its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, dead over the weekend.
Growing tensions about a prolonged escalation in the region, amid diminishing hopes of immediate peace talks, have caused severe damages, disrupted crude oil supplies, caused hundreds of thousands of aerial traffic cancellations, and rattled world markets since Israel's US-backed strikes against Iran last weekend.
The Indian PM has so far connected with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Israel President Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi Arabia Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Jordan leader Abdullah II, Bahrain leader Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Oman leader Haitham bin Tarik, Kuwait Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and Qatar leader Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
