Indo-Pak Conflict: Are schools in your area open or closed today?

As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, several states and union territories have taken precautionary measures, including shutting down educational institutions to ensure student safety. India launched swift strikes on multiple Pakistani cities in retaliation to missile and drone attacks attempted by Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh.

While no nationwide directive has been issued, local administrations have exercised discretion based on their proximity to the conflict zones.

What’s the latest as of May 10?

Delhi-NCR Status
Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad: No official holiday declared. Schools and colleges are functioning normally as of now, though some are reportedly holding online classes on their own discretion.

Gurgaon (Gurugram): Schools remain closed today, May 10. Parents were notified by schools late last evening.

Jammu & Kashmir
All schools, colleges, and universities are shut on May 10.

Punjab
A three-day closure (May 9, 10, 11) for all educational institutions is in effect. This includes all government, private, and aided schools and colleges.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains confirmed the order on social media platform X.

Chandigarh
Schools closed until Saturday.

Panjab University has indefinitely postponed exams scheduled for May 9, 10, and 12.

Haryana
Schools in Panchkula and across the state, including Gurugram, are closed on May 10.

Rajasthan
Schools are shut in five key border districts:

Sri Ganganagar

• Bikaner
• Jodhpur
• Jaisalmer
• Barmer

Ladakh
Schools remain closed till May 10.

Though some teachers and administrators are suggesting that institutions may compensate for the closure by working on a future weekend, there is no official decision on that yet.
