Domestic markets traded strong on Tuesday as Sensex rose 445.91 points to end at 28,978.02 while Nifty surged 133.35 points to close at 8,943 points.
The surge in equity markets was on the back of strong global cues, healthy inflow of foreign funds, positive cues in rate of expansion in the Indian service sector and lower crude oil prices.
Banking sector shares climbed up 2.7% while auto climbed 2.92% with Tata Motors recording the most turnover of Rs 145.76 crore.
Top gainers on BSE were Prestige (8.16%), Redington (7.2%), Tata Motors (7.19%), Indian bank (7%) and Trent Ltd (6.65%).
Among the losers were Jubilant FoodWorks (9.51%), Mind Tree (5.13%), Den Networks (3.61%), Network 18 (2.46%) and Hindustan Construction Company (2.39%).
