India Post has launched a large-scale recruitment drive for 21,413 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions across multiple states. The vacancies include roles such as Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak.
Candidates who have cleared their class 10th exams are eligible to apply through the official website, indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. The application process will remain open until March 3, while a correction window will be available from March 6 to 8. The registration process for India Post GDS 2025 began on February 10, with the last date to apply set for March 3. Candidates will have a chance to edit or correct their application details between March 6 and 8.
The recruitment drive spans various states, including North East, Odisha, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Assam. Tamil Nadu has the highest number of vacancies, followed by Uttar Pradesh.
Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old as of March 3, 2025. Candidates from reserved categories will be eligible for age relaxation as per government norms. In terms of educational qualifications, candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) with English and Mathematics as mandatory subjects from a recognised Board of School Education.
A fee of Rs 100 is applicable for all posts. However, female applicants, SC/ST candidates, PwD applicants, and transwomen applicants are exempted from paying this fee.
To apply, candidates need to visit the official website at indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. The process includes registering on the website, filling in the application form, uploading necessary documents, submitting the application fee, and finalising the submission. A printout of the completed form is recommended for future reference.
The salary for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) is provided in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), which increases annually by 3 per cent, subject to certain conditions outlined in the GDS Rules. Additionally, they receive Dearness Allowance (DA) on TRCA, as announced by the Government of India.
GDS employees are also entitled to various allowances and social security benefits, including GDS Gratuity and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme, which is similar to the National Pension System applicable to regular employees. As per the initial engagement, Branch Postmasters (BPM) receive a TRCA ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380, while Assistant Branch Postmasters (ABPM) and Dak Sevaks receive a TRCA between Rs 10,000 and Rs 24,470.
There will be no examination for the selection process. Instead, a system-generated merit list will determine the final candidates, based on the percentage of marks obtained in Class 10 (calculated up to four decimal places). Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo document verification and a basic medical fitness test if needed.
