India Energy Week (IEW) 2025 News: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday that India and the United States have partnerships in "technology, entrepreneurship and other forms of innovation". "We are buying about $20 billion worth of energy from the US... I am one of those who frankly say that they are happy when US President (Donald) Trump talks about putting more energy in the market and bringing down international energy prices," said Puri, speaking on the sidelines of the mega 2025 edition of the much-anticipated India Energy Week event, a widely-followed annual exhibition aimed at driving global energy innovation and collaboration for a sustainable future.
"If you look at the global data, I think the Western Hemisphere is now producing more energy than ever before... I am very happy to tell you that India is the first country in the G20 to have met its Paris commitments," said Puri.
He also said: "Whether it is our biofuel programme, compressed biogas or green hydrogen, it is positive."
The 2025 edition of the globally-followed exhibition, organised in the Yashobhoomi international convention and expo centre in the national capital, began on February 11 and ends on February 14. It is set to record unparalleled global participation from ministers, CEOs and industry leaders in the country’s crucial energy space.
India-US Energy Partnership, a Key Focus Area in 2025 IEW
The India Energy Week 2025 exhibition showcases the flourishing India-US Energy Partnership driven by the shared vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat' and US President Donald Trump’s 'America First' policy, both emphasising economic growth, energy security and national development.
With a mutual commitment to ensuring affordable and reliable access to energy, India and the US are deepening their collaborations across strategic and commercial domains to drive the global energy transition.
India-US Energy Roundtable
Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri chaired the India-US Energy Roundtable as part of the India Energy Week (IEW) conferences, in collaboration with the US-India Business Council (USIBC) and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF).
Discussions at the roundtable reinforced the imperative for greater cooperation in energy trade, technology exchange and investments in emerging energy solutions.
Additionally, the following crucial areas were discussed at the meeting:
- Hydrocarbon Trade: Strengthening partnerships in LNG and crude oil trade to ensure energy security
- Renewable Energy Cooperation: Advancing investments in solar, wind, and biofuels to accelerate the clean energy transition
- Technology Exchange: Driving innovation in energy efficiency, carbon capture, hydrogen, and advanced storage solutions
- Investment in Emerging Solutions: Enhancing bilateral investments in next-generation energy technologies
The India-US partnership contineus to thrive under their visionary administrations, with companies from both sides eager to capitalise on new opportunities, according to an official statement.
"This collaboration is set to foster a robust, mutually beneficial energy future, ensuring economic prosperity, innovation, and sustainability for both nations," it noted.
