What is Hyderabad Metro and who operates it?
Hyderabad Metro is a rapid transit system serving the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region, the heart of the city in Telangana. It is the third longest operational metro network in the country, after Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Namma Metro in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Hyderabad Metro is divided into three operational lines: Red Line, Blue Line and Green Line. An additional line is under construction.
Hyderabad Metro is operated by L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (L&TMRHL), a subsidiary of private sector construction major L&T. L&TMRHL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV), has developed the project on a design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) basis under a partnership with the Hyderabad government, which holds a minority stake.
