<p>The Government of India has extended the deadline for filing the income tax returns (ITRs) for people across India to August 5, 2016.</p>
<p>Earlier the government had set July 31 as the deadline for filing the income tax returns (ITRs). </p>
<p>Revenue Secretary from the Ministry of Finance Dr Hasmukh Adhia tweeted on Friday saying, " In view of today's bank strike and disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir (J &amp; K), due date of IT return filing is being extended."</p>
