The central government has issued a draft for the Temporary Suspension of Telecommunication Services Rules, 2024.
As per the draft, the government will decide to shut down telecom services in case of breach of national security and peace.
Suggestions and objections have been sought from all stakeholders within 30 days from the issuance.
The government can order message interception by directing two authorized officers.
The draft can be asked for review within 7 days.
The government is keeping an eye on telecom infrastructure for national security.
It is mandatory to give all information related to telecom infrastructure and network to the government.
All spares, hardware, software can be installed only with government standards and approval, as per the draft.
The government can take over any equipment by issuing an order, reads the draft.
A Chief Telecom Security Officer will be appointed.
All types of logs will have to be shared in real time, as per the draft.
Cyber Crisis Management Plan to be made with the government will be shared, reads the draft.
Information about every upgrade will have to be given to the government.
