FASTag Annual Pass: To ease travel and eliminate the hassle of making repeated payments at toll plazas, the government launched the digital, prepaid pass – the FASTag Annual Pass. It allows eligible vehicle owners to pay once and cross toll plazas without repeated payments. Once activated, this digital pass remains valid for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes earlier.

People can avail the facility of an annual pass at around 1,150 toll booths located on National Highways and National Expressways across the country.

FASTag Annual Pass: Activation Process

After paying the one-time fee, the annual pass is activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle. In case you are wondering how to make these payments, users can complete this process through the Highway Travel app or the National Highways Authority of India website.

Launched on 15th August 2025, the FASTag Annual Pass has received an overwhelming response from highway users, underlining "the greater convenience and cost-effective travel option it provides to National Highway users across the country," said the press release. At present, more than 56 lakh users have adopted the annual pass facility, indicating its growing popularity among private vehicle owners.

Will the FASTag Annual Pass become costlier?

There is an important update for users of national highways in India. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that the FASTag annual pass fee will be revised from Wednesday, April 1, for the financial year 2026-27. There will be a slight increase in the fee, from the current Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075.

According to the announcement released by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the revision has been made in line with the provisions of the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. For those planning to use the annual pass, there is still time to purchase it at the current price. Users can recharge or buy the pass in March at Rs 3,000 before the revised fee of Rs 3,075 comes into effect from April 1, 2026.
