Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that everyone responsible for the Red Fort bomb blast, at any level, will be brought before the court and face exemplary punishment.
While virtually addressing the inauguration of Shri Motibhai R. Chaudhary Sainik School and Sagar Organic Plant at Boriyavi, Gujarat, Shah said, “This is a firm resolve of the government that exemplary punishment is handed down to the culprits to send a strong global message,” IANS reported.
He added that the action taken against the accused will reflect the country’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
The Home Minister also paid tribute to those who were killed or injured in the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday.
In a video message, Shah said, “...I am currently occupied due to the terrorist incident in Delhi, in which… people lost their lives and around 25 citizens were injured. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and offer my heartfelt prayers for the departed souls. I want to emphasise that everyone responsible for this bomb blast, at any level, must be brought before a court of law and face appropriate punishment.”
On November 10, a deadly car explosion tore through the Red Fort complex in Delhi, killing 12 people and injuring several others, according to ANI. Investigations point to a larger terror conspiracy led by Dr. Umar Un Nabi and his associates.
Police are still tracing a missing Brezza allegedly linked to Umar. Meanwhile, a red Ford EcoSport was seized in Faridabad, suspected to be part of the attack plan. Intelligence inputs suggest that Umar’s group was preparing multiple vehicles for coordinated blasts across cities, with at least eight suspects assigned to different targets.
Authorities have detained Faheem, a relative of Umar, in Faridabad for allegedly parking one of the cars. In Kanpur, Mohammad Arif, a medical student, was detained by the Uttar Pradesh ATS for his links with another suspect, Dr. Shaheen Saeed. A joint team of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Delhi Police on Thursday recovered human remains from the New Lajpat Rai Market area near the blast site. DNA testing later confirmed that Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect, was killed in the explosion.
Investigators also recovered diaries belonging to Umar and another suspect, Dr. Muzammil, containing entries from November 8–12 and the names of about 25 individuals from Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad. Officials believe these records could help unravel the wider terror network and the timeline of planning behind the Red Fort blast.
